Vintage Japanese fabric.

Hand loomed cotton. Very soft indeed, light and sheer.

Hand dyed with indigo dye. It appears to be hand painted with a watery dye.

Such a mysterious design only emphasized by the fading and aging. There is a hole near one end.

It is possible that the original intended use was a tenugui. It could be two of them sewn together. Tenugui were often produced as company/shop advertisements or for festivals or events.
